Madrid – September 2011
After Barcelona I left my friends to travel onwards to Madrid catching the Renfe fast rail in the morning and sped along as the sun rose. I arrived at the hostel I had booked and went about to explore Madrid. I had heard some amazing things about the food in Madrid and found it much easier to find since I was staying right next to the amazing gourmet food market Mercado De San Miguel. I indulged in everything the market had on offer (black pudding, wine, tarts!), and just further down the road I found the Museo del Jamon which is yes a museum of Ham. I only had three days in Madrid and it was
oppressively hot, so I found myself mainly wandering around the city and it’s beautiful parks, gorging myself on local food and stopping for a well deserved beer. Madrid was very laid back compared to Barcelona and it was a delightful last stop in Europe.
